Our Story

I grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil. I accepted Christ as my Savior at an early age. When I was nine years old, during a missions conference, I surrendered to the Lord’s call for my life to missionary service. To prepare for missions I attended Bob Jones University as a Cross-Cultural Services major and graduated in May 2015. After serving for six months on the Minutemen Evangelistic Team, I returned to Brazil for a two-year short-term internship, where I worked with my parents, Chris & Darcy Vergiels, in a new church plant in the interior of the state of São Paulo. It was during this time that I began to date and eventually married a Brazilian gal named Lara...

I grew up in a Christian family in the interior of the state of São Paulo, Brazil. My family attended a church started by BMM missionaries John & Karen Swedberg. I accepted Christ at an early age. When I finished high school, I planned to attend the Bible College in Curitiba for one year. Well, I liked it so much I decided to stay for the four-year bachelors’ program. It was during this time that the Lord began working in my heart about missions. Also, during this time, I began talking to Warren. After finishing my degree, we began dating and about a year later we were married.
